Hall Of Shame

Never trust any of these people again...

Welcome to the Irish Home Truths Hall Of shame. Here you'll find a rogues gallery of liars, spoofers, scammers and spinners.

Some of these people played an active role in causing the financial mess that Ireland finds itself in. Others simply profited from it by misleading the public in order to suck as many as possible into the giany pyramid scheme that was the Irish Economy.

All of these people have three things in common.

1. They have been consistently dramatically wrong in their analysis.
2. They are still given airtime on radio, tv and newspapers to peddle their waffle.
3. They have no qualms about reinventing history to cover their past mistakes.

They are the go-to-guys who are always available for a quick quote or prediction when called upon by our supine media. They get their PR releases published in newspapers. They work for banks, estate agents, building societies, the construction industry.

Here in our hall of shame we'll do our best to capture for posterity their most ridiculous moments of spin and bluster.

When we look back at who caused the property bubble and who sustained it, these people will be the prime suspects.

It may seem that we are being all too clever with the benefit of hindsight, however most of these quotes were rightly challenged when they were first uttered. On Blogs, on Forums like ThePropertyPin, and by the few credible voices in the media.

These quotes may raise a smile, some of them truly are so bewildering as to be almost funny. However laughter is not the correct response.

These quotes should make you angry. Very angry. If you're finding it difficult to get suitably worked up, it might help to consider this fact:

Some of these spoofers, or their companies are now on lucrative contracts working for NAMA, valuing the assets that NAMA is overpaying for.

Your taxes are being paid to these people to value assets, which you will also pay for, despite years of consistently failing to correctly analyse or value anything.

tracking the quotes of an even larger group of people, and providing many quotes that aren't here.
